Jessica had been wearing eyeglasses since she was in sixth grade. She underwent Wavefront LASIK surgery, which typically helps patients achieve 20/20 vision in four to six months. At her follow-up appointment, Jessica describes the incredible feeling of waking up and being able to see without putting on glasses.
Interviewer: Hey, Jessica, how are you, dear?
Jessica: Good, how are you?
Interviewer: So how are your new eyes?
Jessica: They're great. It's honestly such a nice feeling being able to just wake up and be able to see.
Interviewer: And you're kind of like me now. I've been perfect all my life, and you're perfect today. A couple months, and the best is yet to come. We did these Wavefronts, and you usually get 20/20 in about 4 to 6 months, which you are. And 20/15, you'll eat it up, is about 8 to 12 months. The best is yet to come. So tell me about your story before surgery. You were in glass and contacts.
Interviewer: And how long have you been using those for? When did you start using it?
Jessica: Since I was in the sixth grade, I started.
Interviewer: You were a little girl.
Interviewer: So you went through elementary, high school, and college with glasses.
Interviewer: And what did you not like about them?
Jessica: It was just a hassle every morning, having to wake up, always put them in every night. If I was sleeping out somewhere, always having to remember to take them out, change the solution, getting eye infections from not cleaning my contacts well. It's just a mess.
Interviewer: A lot of hassles.
Interviewer: Any hassles now?
Jessica: No. It's so nice just being able to wake up and see. Go to sleep and not have to worry about it.
Interviewer: How's the alarm clock in the morning? Always hear that story. Is it clear?
Jessica: It's clear. So clear.
Interviewer: Was it blurry before surgery?
Interviewer: It was hard to see.
Interviewer: The world opens up to you.
Interviewer: Yeah, just within 6 minutes, you started to see the next day.
Interviewer: Were you able to drive the next day?
Jessica: Definitely. I had no issues with that. Very fast recovery.
Interviewer: Yeah. Well, I'm glad you're so happy.
Jessica: Thank you.
Interviewer: I appreciate all the compliments. You're a very nice patient to take care of in the future.
Jessica: Thank you.
Interviewer: So the best is yet to come, so just enjoy it.
Jessica: Can't wait.
Interviewer: Okay. Thank you.
