Deciding on where to go for LASIK can be a challenge. With so many options available, how do you know who to trust. We have asked one of our happiest patients to take a minute and write their experience with Columbus Laser Vision for everyone to read. We hope that this story will encourage you to choose Dr. Columbus has your lasik surgeon.

“Over five years ago, I decided that it was time for a change in the way I saw things. In doing so, I decided to look into getting rid of my contact lenses and have lasik surgery. After researching for doctors around my area I chose Columbus Laser Vision in Wilkes-Barre, PA as the best place to go for correcting my vision.”

“My surgery was scheduled on August 1, 2003 and the following day I no longer needed contacts and was able to see clearly with my own two eyes. Since then my vision has been nothing less than perfect.
Being extremely pleased with Columbus Laser Vision I recommended <a href="http://Dr. Columbus to several friends, co-workers, and family members. And they too are thrilled with their improved vision.”

“Columbus Laser Vision is a family orientated business. Both Dr. William and Dr. Robert Columbus are caring, sincere, and very dedicated to their profession. Their mother also works with them and her warm and genuine personality gives the office a “homey” feeling. The Columbus family really does extend themselves to welcome each patient as part of their family.”

“If you or anyone you know is considering having laser eye surgery , I would highly recommend you call Columbus Laser Vision and make an appointment for the location nearest you.

If you are over the age of 40 years & wearing bifocals for reading then Monovion LASIK laser vision correction may be for you. Our doctors at our offices will show you how “monovision looks” with a pair of glasses simulating the results…Monovision works by putting one eye, usually the dominant eye, for distance. The other eye, non-dominant eye, is mainly made for near vision. There may be an “imbalance” in the distance vision; less so for younger patients & more so for older patients. Despite the imbalance, some patients can acclimate to the imbalance over just a week or two. If the patients cannot tolerate the “monovion imbalance” for distance or near, then an enhancement or second LASIk treatment can be applied to the non-dominant near eye and convert to it to see better for distance. Afterwards these patients would need reading glasses as both eyes are now corrected to improve the distance vision without imbalance issues.

Epi-LASIK is a modified PRK procedure where a corneal scratch is not made unlike PRK…this procedure saves the skin layer of the eye called the “EPI”thelium to potentially promote a faster healing rate with the skin surface preserved. After PRK laser vision correction with Doctor William Columbus, a bandage contact lens is kept in the eye for one week protection and to facilitate healing with eyedrops. Vision usually occurs to its fullest within just several days afterwards. Like PRK, this procedure is safest for THIN CORNEAS. BOTH procedures PRK & EPI-LASEK avoid typical LASIK flap complications as these procedures are “FLAPLESS” procedures best suited for thin corneal patients.
